WERRIBEE STREET

LEVEL CROSSING REMOVAL

Part of the Western Program Alliance

Head Contractor: McDonnel Dowell
Scope of work: Earthworks, Drainage and Electrical Infrastructure

The Werribee Street level crossing was removed in late January 2021 with a new rail bridge built over Werribee Street.

The rail bridge allows for both freight and passenger trains and is about one kilometre long.

Removing this level crossing improves travel for the 20,000 vehicles that travel through this crossing daily, which is a key connection between Werribee and Wyndham Vale.

With the level crossing now removed, construction will begin on new open spaces, public art and a skate park beneath the Werribee Street rail bridge.
